Gibbon is 0-10 against Wood River since December of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Gibbon Buffaloes will head out on the road to face off against the Wood River Eagles at 2:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Gibbon is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] an easy 66-46 victory. One positive for the Buffaloes, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brooke Sell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Claire Clark, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Gibbon was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wood River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost to Blue Hill on the road by a 50-31 margin. The Eagles were down 39-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Like Gibbon, Wood River lost despite seeing results from several players. Sidney Frear led the charge by putting up ten points and five rebounds.
Wood River's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Gibbon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Gibbon has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Wood River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Gibbon took a serious blow against Wood River when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 67-24. Thankfully for Gibbon, Macie Peters (who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
