Angleton Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Banff Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Angleton Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-43 to Texas Christian.
Meanwhile, Banff's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They were beaten by Humble Christian 58-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Banff has suffered since December 11, 2023.
Despite their loss, Banff saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Anthony Perla, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Perla is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Viet Vo, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Angleton Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6. As for Banff, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
Everything went Angleton Christian's way against Banff in their previous meeting on January 9th as Angleton Christian made off with a 58-33 victory. With Angleton Christian ahead 44-16 at the half, the game was all but over already.
