Baseball Game Preview: Cache Bulldogs vs. Bridge Creek Bobcats

Cache is a perfect 5-0 against Bridge Creek since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Cache has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cache's last matchup with Plainview could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Saturday. The Bulldogs lost 16-5 to the Indians.

Cache saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deshaun Harvey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Luke Montgomery was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bridge Creek faced off against Pauls Valley on Tuesday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Panthers. The Bobcats not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th.

Rylan Johns tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Bridge Creek is 3-1 when Johns allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Ryan Russell was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Ethan Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Bridge Creek's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. As for Cache, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Cache came out on top in a nail-biter against Bridge Creek in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
