On Saturday, Perry County Central earned a 6-3 victory over Montgomery County. The Commodores haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

J Mullins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, M Shepherd was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was M Fugate, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Perry County Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Estill County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Powell County on Thursday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Engineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.
Spencer Young was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Young was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kenzie Howard and Callee Snowden did most of the damage at the plate: Howard went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Snowden went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs. That's the most runs Snowden has posted since back in March. Maddie Cole was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Estill County's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Perry County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perry County Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Estill County struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Perry County Central was able to grind out a solid win over Estill County when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 6-2. Will the Commodores repeat their success, or do the Engineers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
