Lake Houston HomeSchool narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Onalaska 74-72. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lake Houston HomeSchool's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 725th, while Onalaska is ranked 344th).
When it comes to explaining why Onalaska lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayden Topkins. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Smith, who scored 14 points.
Lake Houston HomeSchool's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Onalaska, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Lake Houston HomeSchool's road trip will continue as they head out to face Splendora at 11:30 a.m. on December 1st. As for Onalaska, they will face off against Orangefield at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Orangefield is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
