The Tracy Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Venture Academy Mustangs on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They suffered a tough 81-59 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. Tracy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-0.
When it comes to explaining why Tracy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malcom Akamien. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Martinez, who scored 13 points.
Tracy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Venture Academy racked up 18.
Venture Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mario Williams led the charge by scoring 18 points along with 7 rebounds. The matchup was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Cameron Lowe was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Tracy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Venture Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Tracy is on the road again on Saturday and play against Sonora at 4:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Hopefully Sonora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Venture Academy, they will square off against Chavez at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chavez will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 651st, while Venture Academy is ranked 153rd).
