Mercersburg Academy is 9-0 against the Lions since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Mercersburg Academy Blue Storm will get right back to it and host the GVCS Broadfording Lions at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The timing is sure in Mercersburg Academy's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Lions have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Mercersburg Academy pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hun.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 85-41, which was the final score in GVCS Broadfording's tilt against the Sentinels on Thursday. While losing is never fun, GVCS Broadfording can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Sentinels are ranked 65th).
Despite the loss, GVCS Broadfording saw an underclassman step up: Nashon Mann scored ten points.
Mercersburg Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for GVCS Broadfording, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-21.
Mercersburg Academy strolled past the Lions in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 53-38. Does Mercersburg Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
