It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Southern Maryland Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Malcolm Blaqman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Isaiah Priester was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Jay (JP) Perry II also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
