Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2020 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Dallan Hayden of
Christian Brothers (Memphis) is the 2020 MaxPreps Tennessee High School Football Player of the Year. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound junior running back ran for 2,010 yards and 24 touchdowns in just nine games this fall, helping the Purple Wave go 7-4.
Against Conway (Ark.) on Oct. 23, Hayden carried 41 times for 326 yards and four touchdowns. He topped the 200-yard mark in seven of nine games.
College programs like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas A&M have already extended offers. 247Sports rates Hayden as a top 250 prospect in the Class of 2022.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released Jan. 29.
