The Harris County Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 79-51 loss at the hands of Spencer. While losing is never fun, Harris County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while Spencer is ranked 131st).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zy?kevious Gates, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Shay Broome, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Spencer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joe Dozier, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Dozier continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of KeyShaun Sampton, who scored 23 points.
Harris County's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-12. As for Spencer, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harris County will take on Northgate at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Spencer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
