Lacie Godby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Parks, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Tara Gruca was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Cascade was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greencastle only posted a batting average of .214.
Meanwhile, Center Grove came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Stars. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Sarah Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mae Munson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Hayden Baird also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Cascade is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Center Grove, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cascade has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
