Baseball Recap: Chandler Park Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Henry Ford Academy on Friday, Chandler Park Academy came back down to earth. Chandler Park Academy fell just short of Lincoln-King Academy by a score of 9-8 on Monday. Chandler Park Academy was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Lincoln-King Academy earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Codee Turner and Montell Woods did some serious damage despite the final result: Turner went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Woods went a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Woods is becoming a predictor of Chandler Park Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-7-1 when he doesn't). Jaycee Conley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Chandler Park Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-1 record this season. As for Lincoln-King Academy, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Coming up, Chandler Park Academy will welcome Detroit Community at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln-King Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
