Milton and Pine Forest are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Milton Panthers will be playing at home against the Pine Forest Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Pine Forest took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Milton, who comes in off a win.
Milton is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since April 4, 2024 on Thursday. They blew past Northview 11-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Saylor Melton made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. Melton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harley Messer, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, he also racked up two hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brayden Barrow, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Milton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northview only posted a batting average of .107.
Meanwhile, Pine Forest came up short against Fort Walton Beach on Thursday, falling 12-3. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.
Ja'Len Rawls was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Char'Son Floyd was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Pine Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Milton, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Milton beat Pine Forest 10-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Milton repeat their success, or does Pine Forest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
