Baseball Recap: Liberty Union Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Circleville, Liberty Union was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the South Webster Jeeps, sneaking past 6-4.

Tanner Farmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Liberty Union is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise. Farmer was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Noah Shook was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season.

Liberty Union's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for South Webster, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Union will challenge Berne Union at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Webster, they will take on Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
