They came out on top against Ridgeland by a score of 51-40. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Ridgeland is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shamira Morton was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 24 rebounds. The match was her 13th in a row with at least ten points. Na'Miya Davis was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Yazoo County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Canton, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
Yazoo County came up short against Canton in their previous matchup on December 12th, falling 45-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Morton, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks.
