Arvada has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Sterling Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Arvada is ranked 142nd, while Sterling is ranked 137th).
Arvada fell victim to University's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Bulldogs 39-0. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Arvada couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Sterling strolled past Timnath with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 28-10.
Sterling got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Diamond out in front who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 91 yards and a touchdown on only six passes. Diamond's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Sterling also got help from Gage Parker who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.
Sterling's victory bumped their season record to 3-4 while Arvada's loss dropped theirs to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Arvada against Sterling when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 53-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arvada since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
