Fairfield took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Wawasee Warriors. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2021.
Fairfield's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Avery Christner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave Christner a new career-high.
Fairfield has already played their next matchup, a 7-6 win against South Bend Adams on the 4th. As for Wawasee, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Whitko at 5:30 p.m. on the 15th.
