Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 11 on the offensive boards, a fact the Kermit Yellow Jackets proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 46-35 win over Compass Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kermit.
Ebbin Mallory continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was MICHAELA CAZARIN, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Compass Academy still got an impressive performance from Lindsey Ruiz, who scored 12 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ruiz has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Compass Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Kermit pushed their record up to 14-12 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Compass Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
Kermit will head out on the road to face off against Crane at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crane is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games. As for Compass Academy, they will be playing at home against Alpine at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Alpine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
