Basketball Game Preview: Urbana Hawks vs. Linganore Lancers

Urbana and Linganore are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Urbana Hawks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Linganore Lancers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Urbana will head into Friday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 26) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Frederick, sneaking past 51-49.

Urbana can attribute much of their success to Zizi Etolue, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards, and Mackenna Patterson, who posted nine points along with seven boards and six steals. Patterson is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Smith, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Linganore blew past North Hagerstown, posting a 77-29 win. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season.

Linganore is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Urbana, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
