Northside Christian Academy won the last time they faced Briarwood Academy and things went their way on Friday too. Northside Christian Academy put the hurt on Briarwood Academy with a sharp 12-6 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Gouviea was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last five games. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Grayson Crim was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Northside Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Spencer McGee was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Northside Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Briarwood Academy only posted a batting average of .258.

The win was the fourth in a row for Northside Christian Academy, bringing their record up to 6-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Briarwood Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

As for Briarwood Academy, they will square off against Monsignor Donovan Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Briarwood Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
