The Taylorsville Warriors were the 57-29 winner over the Alta Hawks when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Taylorsville fell 52-39 to Alta on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Taylorsville has scored all season.
Defeat or not, Taylorsville got some senior leadership from Jenna Sterzer who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds and Ella Wolfgramm who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Sterzer set a new season high mark in steals with five.
Even though they lost, Taylorsville were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alta only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Fuifuilupe Niumeitolu, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds for Alta. That makes it six consecutive games in which Niumeitolu has scored at least 25% of Alta's points. Ashley Ferguson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Taylorsville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Alta, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Taylorsville will head out on the road to face off against Juan Diego Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Juan Diego Catholic is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Alta, they will be playing at home against East at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
