After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Vernia, the Cuero Gobblers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past John F. Kennedy with a 52-48 win. This was payback for Cuero, who suffered a 51-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.
John F. Kennedy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylon Hudson, who scored 14 points along with four steals, and Phillip Magallanez who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanyi Leverett, who scored five points.
Cuero now has a winning record of 12-11. As for John F. Kennedy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-17 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cuero will take on San Antonio Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for John F. Kennedy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Vernia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Vernia will roll in looking for their 29th straight victory, something John F. Kennedy surely won't give up without a fight.
