The Western Guilford Hornets had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 65-61 victory over Grimsley on Tuesday. The win was just what Western Guilford needed coming off of a 84-55 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Western Guilford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leila Henderson, who scored 19 points along with six assists and two steals. Henderson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Star Hughes, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Grimsley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sanaya Blount, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Graves, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Western Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Grimsley, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Western Guilford will be playing at home against Northern Guilford at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Northern Guilford will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Western Guilford surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grimsley, they will head out on the road to take on Page at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Page focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
