Even though the Springfield Yellow Jackets have not done well against the Northwest Vikings recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Springfield narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Vikings 43-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Springfield.
Springfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rayne Erickson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Erickson also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Hudson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Loss or not, Northwest got some senior leadership from Kendall Myree and Neighna Dailey. Myree almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, while Dailey. scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Grace Fuaau was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Springfield's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. As for Northwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarksville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Northwest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dickson County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
