Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Thompson

Thompson entered their tilt with Wahpeton on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 63-48 win over the Huskies. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tommies' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Huskies are ranked 32nd).

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Piper Nelson, who shot 67% from beyond the arc on her way to 22 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Nelson is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Woods, who posted 19 points and eight boards.

Thompson's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Wahpeton, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.

Thompson has already played their next game (against Ada-Borup), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wahpeton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Cass at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
