Baseball Recap: Central Dauphin Has No Trouble Against Wilson

Central Dauphin had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-5 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Wilson Bulldogs. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.

Nick Tirado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jace Collins was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Brady Smith also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Wilson, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Wilson's side, Christo Hunsicker put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Hunsicker was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Hunsicker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Marmolejos, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Dauphin will square off against Chambersburg at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wilson, they will face off against Conrad Weiser at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Scouts at the right time seeing as the Scouts are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
