AAAA Region V recap Oct. 9, 2012
White Knoll extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region V this week by beating Aiken, 28-27. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Timberwolves.
White Knoll was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Fighting Green Hornets. Gordon Walters' team came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Lexington's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Will Hunter threw for 39 yards and Ryan McCrary had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Grayson Chumley chipped in 135 yards. Keelo Norris helped Lexington's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
Lexington's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hunter has thrown for 1359 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Altyree Walker has 23 catches for 409 yards. Chumley leads the league in rushing with 680 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place White Knoll takes on second place North Augusta. The Timberwolves topped Aiken last week, while North Augusta bested the Wildcats.
