Basketball Recap: Carbon Comes Up Short

Carbon managed to keep up with North Sanpete until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Dinos came up short against the Hawks, falling 68-47. The Dinos haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Carbon saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tayla Orth went 7-for-11 to rack up 18 points and seven boards. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Orth. Bailey Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Carbon's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for North Sanpete, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Carbon will host Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Sanpete, they are taking a road trip to challenge Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' defense better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 51.1 points per game this season.
