The Calhoun Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to take on the Dalton Catamounts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Calhoun has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Dalton will arrive with five straight wins.
Calhoun pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cartersville. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calhoun in their matchups with Cartersville: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Emaree Winston, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times he's played. Landon Chattam was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dalton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Woodland 76-36 at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Dalton had established a 39 point advantage.
Calhoun has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Dalton, they pushed their record up to 12-12 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Calhoun didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Dalton in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 52-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calhoun since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
