The Rampart Rams pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Creek. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rampart in their matchups with Pine Creek: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Rampart still got an impressive performance from Deangelo Smith, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Myles Chavarria, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Pine Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Paul Grier out in front who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Grier continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kyler Chatman was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Rampart has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Pine Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rampart will take on Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fountain-Fort Carson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Pine Creek, they will be playing at home against Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Doherty has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 615 points over their last nine games.
