The Northeast Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Canterbury 82-55 on the road. Given Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Crusaders are ranked 689th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamaries Conyers, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Conyers is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Ruiz, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists.
Canterbury's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kayden Calhoun, who scored 35 points, and Lou Donnelly who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Calhoun has scored all season.
Northeast's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-10. As for Canterbury, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.
Northeast will take on the Tornadoes at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Clearwater focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Wednesday. As for Canterbury, they will head out on the road to take on the BlueJackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Admiral Farragut will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
