Reading is a perfect 10-0 against Finneytown since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Reading is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.3 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Reading and Madeira had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Mustangs and Amazons with a sharp 19-6 win on Friday. Considering the Blue Devils have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lillie Riedmiller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Riedmiller was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Berry, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Eliza Schierloh was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Reading kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Finneytown fell victim to Mariemont and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 12-0. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Finneytown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrie Popplewell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Finneytown's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Reading, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Finneytown's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Reading has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Finneytown, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Reading keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
Reading got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 10th against Finneytown by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
