The Seton Catholic Sentinels will square off against the St. Mary's Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seton Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Seton Catholic's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Florence by a score of 3-0.
Not much got past Brady Stephenson, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Florence off the board. Furthermore, Stephenson didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last six games.
On the hitting side, Seton Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Brown, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Chase Ries, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Mary's, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Combs 13-4 on Wednesday. Considering the Knights have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bily Lewis was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Javier Romero, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
St. Mary's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Combs only posted an OBP of .391.
Seton Catholic's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Seton Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Mary's in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will Seton Catholic repeat their success, or does St. Mary's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
