After flying high against the Cairo Syrupmakers last Tuesday, the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets came back down to earth. Thomas County Central was the victim of a rough 61-38 loss at the hands of Veterans on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Thomas County Central has suffered against Veterans since January 12, 2019.
Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Travesha Giddens, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Giddens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcy Pearson, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Thomas County Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Veterans, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas County Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Lee County is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. Veterans won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Warner Robins at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Warner Robins is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
