This season hasn't been kind to Achievement First, who are still winless after their seventh match. Their tough 71-50 loss to University on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. Achievement First was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as University apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Malik Rich, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds for University. That makes it four consecutive games in which Rich has scored at least 25% of University's points. Jakari Laing was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight steals.
Achievement First bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for University, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Achievement First will be playing in front of their home fans against Bulkeley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Bulkeley is ranked 171st, while Achievement First is ranked 169th). As for University, they will head out on the road to face off against Classical Magnet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Classical Magnet's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
