The Sperry Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Okmulgee Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Sperry took a serious blow against Victory Christian, falling 69-21.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Okmulgee, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 47-6 loss at the hands of Kansas. While losing is never fun, Okmulgee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Kansas is ranked 56th).
Sperry's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Okmulgee, their defeat was their 16th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Sperry against Okmulgee in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 29-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sperry since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
