The Hayfield Hawks and the West Springfield Spartans squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Hayfield Hawks had to settle for second. Hayfield's rough 41-19 loss to West Springfield might stick with them for a while. Hayfield's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
West Springfield can attribute much of their success to Brady Davies, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 37 yards and a touchdown on only two passes. Mark-anthony Whyte and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in West Springfield's win.
Hayfield's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for West Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Hayfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Springfield will head out on the road to face off against Lake Braddock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Braddock is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
