Softball Recap: Jefferson Forest Wins Going Away Against Gretna

While Jefferson Forest put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Gretna. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Hawks. Considering the Cavaliers have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kimber Spence made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ella Walker was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Adrianna Reynolds was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Jefferson Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gretna only posted a batting average of .000.

The victory made it two in a row for Jefferson Forest and bumps their season record up to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Gretna, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson Forest will welcome Staunton River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cavaliers have won six straight at home dating back to last season, while the Golden Eagles won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Gretna, they will host William Campbell at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
