This season hasn't been kind to the Eagle River Wolves, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chugiak on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Eagle River of the 41-20 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Brooklyn Rollman and Gabby Palozzini certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Rollman dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Palozzini dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Rollman also grabbed two steals for the first time this season.
Even though they lost, Eagle River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eagle River's loss was their 11th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.2 points per game. As for Chugiak, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Eagle River will be playing in front of their home fans against Dimond at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dimond presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eagle River in Alaska (Dimond is ranked tenth, while Eagle River is ranked 48th). As for Chugiak, they will head out on the road to square off against Bartlett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
