Highlands had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Sam Houston Hurricanes with a sharp 12-2 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Owls' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jaime Zendejas made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Zaydin Rivera was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Jose Parga was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Highlands always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-16-1. As for Sam Houston, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Highlands didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 loss against Edison on the 25th. Sam Houston has also already played their next matchup (against Lanier), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
