The Carlson Marauders will face off against the Flat Rock Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Carlson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Carlson's last matchup with Allen Park could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Marauders came up short against the Jaguars, falling 13-6. The Marauders have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Lauren Dunwoody made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Flat Rock ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Milan 16-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Big Reds since May 28, 2019.
Flat Rock got a massive performance out of Jaclynn Motyka, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Motyka has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Kopp, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Flat Rock hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Flat Rock pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 5.25 runs across that stretch. As for Carlson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Flat Rock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Carlson has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Flat Rock, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Carlson's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
