The Palmer Trinity Falcons put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Norland 55-41. Given Palmer Trinity's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Norland is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palmer Trinity's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jade Leon, who scored 15 points along with six steals. That's the first time this season that Leon scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Emma Esparza, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jasmine Johnson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Johnson scored a full 39% of Norland's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terriyah Montgomery, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Palmer Trinity's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Norland, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.
Palmer Trinity will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sports Leadership & Management at 5:00 p.m. Sports Leadership & Management and Palmer Trinity are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. Norland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lourdes Academy at 5:10 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Lourdes Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on December 11th.
