After flying high against Carl Hayden Community last Friday, Lake Havasu came back down to earth. The Lake Havasu Knights took a 33-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mohave Thunderbirds on Friday. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.
Despite the loss, Lake Havasu still got an impressive performance from Gavin Briggs, who picked up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Briggs got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 50 yards.

Joe Yoney JR was a one-man wrecking crew for Mohave as he rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 182 yards and a touchdown while completing 78.9% of his passes. Yoney JR also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles and defending two passes. A healthy portion of that aerial production (84 yards to be exact) went to Anthony Moses, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Having lost for the first time this season, Lake Havasu fell to 2-1. As for Mohave, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.
Lake Havasu will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on September 27th. As for Mohave, they will welcome Kingman at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingman's defense has only allowed 16.2 points per game this season, so Mohave's offense will have their work cut out for them.
