The Culbertson Cowboys will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Poplar Indians at 7:30 p.m. Culbertson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Montana Rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Poplar is ranked 34th).
Culbertson suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Plentywood, falling 67-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Culbertson in their matchups with Plentywood: they've now lost eight in a row.
Gavin Deen put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 11 points.
Even though Poplar has not done well against Wolf Point recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Poplar came out on top against Wolf Point by a score of 61-53. The win was just what Poplar needed coming off of a 71-38 loss in their prior contest.
Culbertson bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Poplar, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
