The Jones Trojans waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 44-25 win over Sinton. Given Jones' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Sinton is ranked 997th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jones to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaydence Menchaca, who scored 12 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Menchaca pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Del Bosque, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Jones has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season. As for Sinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-19.
Jones will head out on the road to take on Rockport-Fulton at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sinton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calhoun at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
