The Kewanee Boilermakers are taking a road trip to challenge the Sterling Golden Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kewanee can't be too worried about heading out to take on Sterling: they just beat Sherrard at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Boilermakers walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Tigers on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Boilermakers.
Kalleigh Gale was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Kieryn Abernathy was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Sterling had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Warriors, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Marley Sechrest, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Lily Cantu was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Sterling kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Kewanee's record is now 17-12. As for Sterling, their record now sits at 15-5.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kewanee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Sterling struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
