After flying high against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg last Saturday, Cumberland came back down to earth. The Cumberland Pirates took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flora Wolves on Thursday. Despite the defeat, Cumberland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cameron Roedl went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chase Stewart, who posted 12 points.
Cumberland now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Flora, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.
Cumberland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-38 win against Vandalia on the 26th. As for Flora, they and Shelbyville will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Shelbyville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
