V Section II recap September 24, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in V Section II this week, Northwest Christian beat Scottsdale Preparatory Academy 34-20,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Arizona Lutheran Academy took down Santa Rita 68-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kaleb Buchholz ran for 238 yards and caught 1 pass for 13 yards during the win.
Cody Byers was the best wideout in the league this week as Northwest Christian topped the Spartans. Byers racked up 6 receptions for 118 yards. Matt Delos helped Northwest Christian's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 75 yards.
Jerry Aquilar put up the best numbers through the air as Tonopah Valley beat Alchesay. He finished with 8 completions for 80 yards and 4 touchdowns. Aquilar's favorite target this week was Tahir Porter, who caught 5 passes for 59 yards.
Buchholz was the best running back in the league this week. Jesse Zwick also contributed to the rushing game with 134 yards on the ground.
He went 8-14 with 2 interceptions.
Buchholz was a force in the backfield as the Coyotes bested the Eagles.
Arizona Lutheran Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Coyotes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cameron Haag has thrown for 956 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Brady Cook has 20 catches for 467 yards.
Arizona Lutheran Academy made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,288 from 4,696. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 68-12 victory over Santa Rita last week.
