The Battle Creek Academy Tigers had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over Tekonsha on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Battle Creek Academy also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Sofia Keller went supernova for Battle Creek Academy, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Olivia Keller, who scored 7 points along with 13 rebounds and 4 blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Tekonsha lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reagan Henry. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Clara Wart was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Tekonsha were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Battle Creek Academy only pulled down nine.
Battle Creek Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Tekonsha, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Battle Creek Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Rudolf Steiner at 6:00 p.m. As for Tekonsha, they will head out on the road to face off against Waldron at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
