The Heath Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Heath comes in on five and Johnstown-Monroe on four.
Last Friday, Heath humbled Newark Catholic with a 56-21 victory. The result was nothing new for Heath, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Brayden Bayles and Connor Corbett were among the main playmakers for Heath as the former rushed for 108 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries and the latter rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Corbett is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Daylen Mcintyre, who gained 125 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, even though Lakewood scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, Johnstown-Monroe still came out on top. Johnstown-Monroe managed a 38-34 win over Lakewood.
Kaynen Lindsey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 168 yards and three touchdowns. Lindsey is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Marasek, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Heath to 7-2 and Johnstown-Monroe to 5-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Heath has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 243.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Johnstown-Monroe struggles in that department as they've been even better at 272.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Heath beat Johnstown-Monroe 33-24 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Does Heath have another victory up their sleeve, or will Johnstown-Monroe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
